Dr. Alan Gao, MBA, PhD
Co-Founder & COO
Dr. Gao co-founded Pathways Bioscience and serves as the company’s Chief Operations Officer, overseeing research, scientific collaborations, product development, and product manufacturing. He is best known for his role as the director of genomics core facility at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and his expertise in genomics and the measurement and interpretation of gene expression. His lab, the largest academic genomic core in Colorado, is pivotal in providing foundational data for numerous projects at the University. With a wealth of experience, he has co-invented multiple patents and authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles spanning oxidative stress, aging, gene expression, and transcriptomics. Dr. Gao’s academic journey includes postdoctoral training in Dr. Joe McCord’s lab, where he focused on genetic engineering of superoxide dismutase enzymes and their roles in oxidative stress and aging. Presently, his research delves into the molecular mechanisms of aging, inflammation, and COVID, employing genome-wide strategies. He is also actively involved in developing new dietary supplements and pharmaceutical products targeting the Nrf2 cell signaling pathway, leveraging Nrf2.0® technology.
